Readers everywhere are freaking out about the latest YA book convention

Charleston, North Carolina. To many, it’s just a town, but to fanatics of Young Adult books, (or just books in general) it’s home to one of the biggest conventions of the year, YALLfest. Created in 2011 by Jonathan Sanchez of Blue Bicycle Books, YALLfest is a two-day book festival that includes a variety of YA’s hottest authors and booktubers. Book nerds come from all over the United States to meet their favorite authors and get their prized copies signed, for free!
Other than signings, the convention features keynote speakers that only cost $9 to hear speak. This year, the Opening keynote speakers are Victoria Aveyard, author of the NY Times bestselling book Red Queen, and Sabaa Tahir, author of the NY Times bestselling novel An Ember in the Ashes. Both authors will also have their own booths for signings.
Every year, the day before the convention officially kicks off, the authors included participate in what’s called the “YALLcrawl.” This is where they go around to different bookshops and businesses and do signings for those in the area that can’t attend the conference. Not many conventions allow this so close to an event so this is an opportunity to take advantage of.
YALLfest 2016 falls on the weekend of Friday, November 11th and Saturday, November 12th and executives have stated the times for each author’s signing will be released sometime this month. To see a full list of events and featured authors, visit http://www.yallfest.org.
